5 principles to bootstrap a marketing team from scratch

  1. Start by doing everything yourself (and take the time to deeply understand what you’re marketing)
  2. Hire people passionate about the product (they are more likely to go the extra mile and find new solutions)
  3. Hire remote talent (the best people aren’t always next door)
  4. Hire figure-shit-out (FSO) people (it’s more about attitude and reasoning capacity than the knowledge you currently have)
  5. Make everyone do customer support at first (no better way to know everything about the product)
